City of Vista, or just a Vista address?
A lot of homes with a Vista mailing address are not inside the city at all. Unincorporated county land wraps around Vista on several sides, toward Buena Creek, Gopher Canyon and Twin Oaks, and those areas are more rural: nurseries, small groves and private roads.
For an order the distinction changes nothing legally, but it changes what the driver needs. City addresses usually need a unit number; county addresses usually need directions.
North and south of the 78
The city proper is organized around SR-78. North of the freeway is the older core: Main Street and Vista Village, the Sprinter station, and the neighborhoods running up East Vista Way. South of it are Shadowridge, a planned community built around a golf course, and the business park along Sycamore Avenue and South Melrose Drive, which is mostly workplaces.
Parks and the courthouse
Brengle Terrace Park, home of the Moonlight Amphitheatre, and the county courthouse complex on South Melrose Drive are public property. Under California delivery rules neither can be a delivery address.
