North County coastal
Cannabis delivery for Encinitas
Olivenhain runs semi-rural with long driveways, while Leucadia and Cardiff are dense coastal blocks where parking is the constraint.
Five communities, one city
Encinitas incorporated in 1986 by joining five communities that still feel separate: Leucadia in the north, Old Encinitas around the downtown stretch of Coast Highway 101, Cardiff-by-the-Sea in the south, New Encinitas along El Camino Real, and Olivenhain in the eastern hills. An address in one of them rarely looks like an address in another.
The rail line beside Highway 101
Along the coast the railroad runs right next to Highway 101, and there are only a few places to drive across it. In Leucadia especially, a house that looks a block away on the map can be several minutes around by the nearest crossing. If you live just east of the tracks, say so in the notes and give the cross street.
Olivenhain after dark
Olivenhain keeps a deliberately rural character: large lots, horse properties, private lanes and very few streetlights. House numbers are hard to read from the road at night. A gate code, a description of the driveway and a porch light do more for an Olivenhain order than anything else.
Beaches and the Cardiff campground
Moonlight Beach, Swami’s and the San Elijo State Beach campground in Cardiff are public land, which California delivery rules exclude. The handoff has to happen at a physical street address, with you there in person.
